Crappy $10 earbuds finally broke, heard amazing things about the porta pros but I'm worried about how much sound leaks out. I'd mainly be listening in a car or in places where family is near me, and don't want to annoy them. My experience is with the Yaxi pads, which I put on nearly immediately after getting them.

The Koss Porta Pro is a small, on-ear, open back headphone, designed in the early 80’s. It has an all-metal headband with no padding whatsoever. It weighs essentially zero. Their are actually three different "types" of porta pros (not counting the telephony, bluetooth or variable color editions), all of which use the same driver, but slightly different headbands: the original porta pro, the sporta pro, and the ksc35. All three are extremely portable (collapse very small) and come with a carrying case.
The PortaPros leak about as much sound in and out as all stock headphones for portable walkmen. Like these, or whatever came with your walkman. It's no big deal for average portable use, but if you want crystal sound when on a noisy bus or subway, pay a hundred times more for some closed headphones. The PortaPros sound great. If you're just
